An ideas lab, a dialogue among languages, an exchange of experiences. Where there is a link between reality and imagination, where wall-coverings are the very true sensorial expression. Surfaces become leather, textures, graphic play, reflexes and give depth to volumes, create optical illusions, colour and light effects.

Between art and design a real, emotive way where virtual dimension is the imagination, onderfully stimulated by Jannelli&Volpi 2010 wall-coverings.

This Factory conceived by Markus Benesch, art director of the design week event, talks with artists and designer as Gruppo T, Maria Christina Hamel, Carnovsky, De Vecchi Milano 1935.

The niches and the rooms of the exhibition hide, and at the same time reveal, the novelties presented by the artists-designer selected to create wallcoverings which belong to the collection WonD, nearby the novelties of the catalogue Jannelli&Volpi 2010.

WHO ARE THE MAIN CHARACTERS OF WALLPAPER FACTORY ?

Jannelli&Volpi wanted to combine the different languages and experiences of designer-artists asking them to interpret the WonD (Wallpaper on Demand) wallcoverings. New and amazing graphics which reflect the sensorial and emotional effects are the result.

The first is Markus Benesch, designer and art director of the Jannelli&Volpi 2010 event presents some novelties in the wallpaper world, with tridimensional inspiration in his Curious Boy collection.

Gruppo T: the largest groups of Kinetic and ‘planned’ Art and in Italy, founded in 1959 by Davide Boriani and Gabriele De Vecchi to which joined Giovanni Anceschi, Gianni Colombo and Grazia Varisco. Gruppo T introduced an innovative art form, through the realization of perceptual experiments and interactive environments designed to encourage and create different and unexpected reactions in the viewer. Present in the galery the “Great tire object.Environment variable volume”.

Tubular propylene elements will be continually inflated and then deflated: so the space will be re-structured, enveloping the visitors who will be forced to remove the balls in order to “see” what is going around.

Maria Christina Hamel, famous designer-artist who presents her collection Double Sense –My Secret Room, which plays on the idea of ambiguity, hidden in sensual symbols, female and erotic. In the locations her furniture create and re-create the space.

Carnovsky by Francesco Rugi and Silvia Quintanilla present RGB, a collection which is hidden an optic effect (visible in its complexity through unique filters): three overlapping images create a very special effect, which covers and enriches the spaces, giving them an unexpected modern character.

De Vecchi Milano 1935, historical silversmiths. Gabriele and Matteo De Vecchi express the very perceptive sense of the material by using shape and colour to create amazing optical effect.

Other presences in the WALLPAPER FACTORY

Other important presences are DuPont™ Corian® with their Gauss, Phyllotaxis and Voronoi panels from the “3D” collection “Math” Series and the Pollen IV installation by Tomáš Medek, Brionvega historic italian design factory and its iconic model rr226 created by brothers Castiglioni in 1965 and Jaques Toussaint with his “light wall”.
