The Mille Miglia is one of the most famous and the most beautiful automotive events in the world. And we are sure of it, because after all day yesterday ( 12th of May )in Brescia between drivers, fans and all these old-timers, we can say that this event is really something special, something not to miss.
The line-up of the Mille Miglia this year includes a range of classic sports cars of famous brands like Alfa-Romeo, Aston Martin, BMW, Bugatti, Ferrari, Fiat, Jaguar, Maserati, Mercedes and Porsche. The organizers received about 2000 applications but only 375 teams were granted an opportunity to take part. To qualify for Mille Miglia the car has to be build between 1927 and 1957, the dates of the original race.
Finally, after daily exhibition of these amazing cars on Piazza della Logia in Brescia, in the mid-afternoon the teams meet at the museum ”Mille Miglia” where drivers and some special guests enjoyed the traditional dinner. But, it was also the moment for relax and time to find the right concentration, which is crucial to win the competition. The Mille Miglia is not a race of pure speed, but the important thing is to maintain a constant pace all the way.
All was ready for the start and at 7 o’clock the adventure has begun. To give the blessing was the Italian showgirl Madalina Ghenea who is the lady sponsor of this edition. Furthermore, one of the competitors – guest star is also the former Formula One driver Mika Hakkinen who is arrived on the start platform with beautiful Mercedes. Between very important persons was the actor Rowan Atkinson aka Mr.Bean who is driving BMW 328 Roadster from 1939.
At 20.40 is arrived Maserati 15 S of Acqua di Parma from 1955, the vintage car with the number 314 and led by Mister and Miss Gorni who are collectors and enthusiasts of classic cars. This year is their fourth Mille Miglia. It is a rare car, available in very limited numbers, and an icon of all-Italian luxury and elegance.
One more important thing is that during the final awarding ceremony on May 15 at Teatro Grande in Brescia, the winners will receive from Acqua di Parma a special edition of its renowned Colonia and of Iris Nobile, the elegant women’s iconic fragrance of the Le Nobili collection, a symbol of refined and timeless elegance.
Today the race continues in direction via Roma and we can’t wait to see who will be the taem that win this year. Anyway, good luck and enjoy your road trip.
