It was thanks to the foresight and commitment of Angelo Rizzoli that the Hotel Regina Isabella was created during the Fifties. The distinguished publisher and film producer, enchanted by the setting and tradition of the natural Springs, built the present day thermal complex and hotel on the site of the ancient Greco-Roman ruins.

Within a few years of its opening, the Hotel Regina Isabella had become the first choice resort of the jet set, a centre of fashionable culture. Such legends as Richard Burton, Liz Taylor, Maria Callas, Alberto Sordi and William Holden starred here in its golden heyday, when the hotel was acknowledged as one of the world’s most glamorous and sought after destinations.

Once again during recent years, the worlds of show business, commerce, politics and culture have rediscovered the hotel, drawn by the prestigious festivals and cultural events that take place on Ischia.

It ’s framed by the magnificent landscape of the island of Ischia, the largest of Parthenopean islands in the Gulf of Naples, an island where every stone reflects 2,700 years of tradition and history. The Hotel is situated on the sea shore at Lacco Ameno, in the centre of a peaceful bay, surrounded by rocks and the green canopy of Mediterranean pine woods. The main entrance gives on to the picturesque little square of Santa Restituta, renowned for the church of the same name, the archaeological museum and the local antique and clothing stalls.
