Young Serbian Designers at Milan Design Week 2010

It’s a strategic promotion of new Serbian design scene and will be present for the second time on a talent fair Salone Satellite at world`s largest furniture fair…


Initiated by cultural organization Mikser and supported by Serbian Investment Export Promotion Agency SIEPA, exhibition Young Serbian Designers will be present  with 12 exquisite projects of young designers selected by a jury chaired by wordily renown designer Konstantin Grcic.

Alongside works of Antipod studio, Ana Kras, Djordje Cukanovic, Jovan Topalovic, Jovana Bogdanovic and Miljana Nikolic that are selected for a national YSD presentation at Milan fair, 11 additional projects of young Serbian designers will be presented as a part of International kitchen & bathroom furniture exhibition.

Milan furniture fair was carefully chosen to be a place of presentation for Serbian design talent as a place considered to be the most visited and most significant international event in domain of industrial design, applied design, furniture industry, lights and interior decoration.

In a spirit of rational usage of resources for this project, all promotional material were designed by the participants in the project leaded by Ana Kras. Ana has donated her handwriting sample featured in the exhibition logo and on fair stand walls.

Serbian Investment Export Promotion Agency SIEPA has recognized the significance of Young Serbian Designers project as a successful way of detecting local talents and potential source of experts that can contribute to international industrial and cultural scene.  Hence, it is a tool for positioning Serbia on international industry and cultural scene.

Previous edition of Young Serbian Designers exhibited at last years Milan fair has generated a lot of attention in global designer circles, while specific exhibits made well defined results: recliner Arc was nominated for Milan`s fair Design Report Award, armchair Baba was commsioned by Braslian furniture manufacturer Decameron, chair Hug is being serially produced in Singapore by Foundry company. YSD selection was a subject of articles in over 40 international magazines.

Results of this years Young Serbian Designers selection presentation in Milan will be presented to regional audience at Mikser Festival in Belgrade, May 25 until 29 2010.
