Just last weekend Milan hosted the fourteenth Tattoo Convention, unmissable event for fans, who have all together in a single location tattooers world from all nations. Over the years the event has improved its quality and expanded its numbers to occupy four halls of the Quark Hotel, its historic location.

It was possible to admire the legendary Filip Leu and his Family Iron, or the master of portraiture Robert Hernandez, but the illustrious list of names would be long. Rather we want to focus attention on the part of women’s convention that year after year is becoming more extensive.

If there were only a few years ago (about thirty at most) female tattooing was the preserve of prostitutes and a few pioneer and now the host of women who decide to be decorating the body is impressive. Likewise, growth in the number of tattooers so that now, as in many other jobs first considered exclusively male, the gender difference is slowly disappearing.

Among them worth a special mention Italian women present who, through passion and dedication, have made a significant contribution to the spread and evolution of tattooing in the Peninsula. Thus it was possible to “brand” by Gentian, pioneer spirit nomad, constantly on the road, or get to a piece hyper coloured by Morga of Genoa, or a super traditional Federica  of Marsh Mallow Tattoo in Rome.

This edition also wanted to be particularly targeted to an audience of women for the presence of Miss Pin-Up 2009. All that remains is to add at the bottom of the sites of the artists cited above, so as to enable you to let you decorate the body by those who taste it intends. For whom then was unable to go and find them in their tattoo shop, the next event not to miss the Tattoo Convention in Rome, held usually the first weekend in May.

Milan is something more than a simple tattoo convention, it is the showcase of international tattoos par excellence, of tattoos considered as a form of art and not only just like a trend or fashion related business.

Tattooists from all over the globe will gather in Milan from February 8th till February 10th, from 12 pm till 8 pm in a 4 stars hotel named Quark Hotel close to the heart of the city.

Milan Tattoo Convention is not only a once in a lifetime chance to see some of the best tattooists on earth at work but also a 360 degree experience mixing tattoos with bikes, martial arts matches with belly dancing performances and, as every year, a contest that will pick the best work done during the convention.

It is a great opportunity too get some new ideas, show your tats or even take a new one following the spur of the moment, even though most of the artists have a queue of fans already waiting their turn! This convention is always overcrowded and a great way to spend your afternoon even if you are not into tattoos or body modification at all, it will introduce you to a whole new world of colours and inspiration and show you tattoos as a form of contemporary art.
