Green municipalities and provinces with 2010th prize

The eleventh edition of the prize “La Città per il Verde” starts up. The initiative of the Milan’s publishing “Il Verde Editoriale” bestows its prestigious awards to the public administrations that have invested in an excellent way their commitment and resources in behalf of public green…

In particular the Prize is assigned to Italian Municipalities and Provinces that have distinguished themselves for realizations or innovative management’s methods, oriented to increase the public green heritage, or that, through focused plans and in an exemplary way, have improved the environmental conditions of their territory.

La Città per il Verde” has as institutional partners Fondazione Fiera Milano, PadovaFiere and Touring Club Italiano, and it’s supported by Ministero dell’Ambiente e della Tutela del Territorio e del Mare, by Associazione Nazionale Comuni Italiani (.anci.it) and Unione delle Province d’Italia (.upinet.it). Moreover the Prize is integral part of “Expo Verde. Il lato verde dell’Expo”, the project supported by Il Verde Editoriale and Gruppo Land with the purpose of  gather and promote good planning, constructive and managerial practices that represent a focus for the green world, before and after Milan’s 2015th Expo.

The initiative’s main sponsor is Peugeot, historical automobile brand that this year celebrates its bicentenary. Even this year the brand will make available to each winner a 308 SW 1.6. HDi FAP® car, that is given on free loan for a year, in accordance to the brand’s commitment to introduce products that respect the environment, with advanced technological solutions for the pollution’s decrease.

The Prize is supported also by specialized sponsor:Giochisport, manufacturer of well advanced products for children’s playing areas and urban design; Stihl, reference point for the production of forest and gardening equipment; Toro Irrigazione, specialist in the innovative products’ and irrigation’s system’s develop.

The local authorities will participate to the Prize subdivided in the following categories:

1st category: Municipalities up to 5,000 inhabitants; 2nd category: Municipalities from 5,000 to 15,000 inhabitants; 3rd category: Municipalities from 15,000 to 50,000 inhabitants; 4th category: Municipalities with over 50,000 inhabitants; 5th category: Provinces.

The jury declares a winner for each category of the Prize; if other local authorities would be considered worthy, the jury will assign recommendations and special mentions.

Each winner and each local authorities signaled and mentioned for each category receives a plaque, the authorization to use on their own headed paper the Prize’s logo followed by the assignment’s year and an annual subscription of ACER, the magazine of the publishing Il Verde Editoriale, dedicated to green professionals.

Moreover each winner receives a copy of the last book published by Il Verde Editoriale and to every participants it’s given the password to access the Il Verde Editoriale’s web site’s restricted area.

The Awards Ceremony will take place on Friday the 10th, September 2010, within the Salone del verde tecnologico (T-Verde), during the Flormart in Padua (Salone Internazionale del Florovivaismo, 9-11 September 2010).

To attend the Prize is completely free and it doesn’t imply for the authorities any kind of burden, just the dispatch of the material by and no longer May the 21st, 2010.
