Thordardotti graduated from Istituto Marangoni in East London only two days before the singer was seen wearing one her frost-inspired designs at Elton John’s White Tie and Tiara Ball.
“It’s just too good to be true,” Thordordottir told for Vogue. “I can’t quite believe it. In my mind when I was designing this, I thought ‘it really would be great if Lady Gaga wore this.’ She looked so good in it – exactly how I would have wanted.”
Gaga wore a piece from the designer’s final graduate collection which explored the idea of how frost affects the elements, using wire, Swarovski crystals, fish and sheep leather.
“I originally sourced pictures of cracked stones, ice that forms in puddles and the northern lights,” she said. “I then played with different textiles and materials and found silicon a very interesting material to work with. I combined it with silver wires and Swarovski crystals to make a frosty- looking textile that is soft and could be sculptured around the body. The northern lights inspired the colours of the collection.”
